The Ben Weinreb collection of architectural drawings contains over 3,400 designs and works of art, primarily from England, France, Italy, and Germany. Part of a larger collection of architectural books, periodicals, and manuscripts, the art and design collection includes paintings, watercolors, prints, and travel sketchbooks. Works are predominantly by British architects and artists, including Sir Charles Barry, Reginald Blomfield, Augustus Wall Callcott, T. "Raffles" Davison, Thomas and William Daniell, John Burges Watson, and William Morris & Company. Also represented are French and Italian creators Tommaso Arrighetti, François Franque II, Victor Jean Nicolle, Lorenzo Scchetti, and others. A variety of architectural subjects include archaeological and historical sites throughout Europe and the Middle East, as well as architectural designs for commercial and residential buildings, ornaments, and furniture.

The collection is organized in three series:

I. Works by named artists, 15-- to 1942 (768 items)
II. Works by unidentified artists, 1613 to 1924 (538 items)
III. Sketchbooks and portfolios, 17-- to 1927 (2,120 items in 51 sketchbooks or portfolios)

 

The Mike Wallace Interview

Watch broadcast journalist Mike Wallace's interviews from the television program The Mike Wallace Interview. Wallace donated the show's footage on 16mm kinescope to the Ransom Center in the early 1960s. Most episodes have not been seen since they aired.
