Sueltas (Spanish Drama)

photo of five copies of sueltas

"Sueltas" is a generic term for plays published in Spain from the late 17th through the 19th century in small pamphlet formats. The Ransom Center owns some 13,000 of these, mostly concentrated in the later part of this period. The collection is not fully cataloged, although a card index and printed catalog (M.V. Boyer, The Texas Collection of Comedias Sueltas: A Descriptive Bibliography [Boston, 1978]) are available.
