The American Institute for Conservation of Historical and Artistic Works (AIC) is the national membership organization of conservation professionals dedicated to preserving the art and historic artifacts of our cultural heritage for future generations. Guidelines for selecting a conservator, a complete list of AIC online publications, online articles from the Journal of the American Institute for Conservation (JAIC) and online articles from the AIC Book and Paper Group Annual can be accessed through these links.

Regional Conservation Organizations

Each area of the United States has an organization devoted to library preservation. Services offered and individual organizations are listed at:

Regional Alliance for Preservation is a national network of nonprofit organizations with expertise in the field of conservation and preservation. RAP provides information and resources on preservation and conservation for cultural institutions and to the public throughout the United States. Their website includes a calendar of Training and Educational Opportunities, a list of Conservation and Preservation services provided by RAP members, links to related organizations, and a Publications and Resources section with a searchable bibliography of full text reports, documents, and specialized bibliographies prepared to answer common collection care concerns for libraries, archives, museums, historical societies and house museums.

Amigos Library Services consists of over 750 libraries and cultural institutions, located primarily in the southwestern United States. They train and consult on many preservation issues.
