Darla Moore

Darla Moore is Executive Vice President of Rainwater, Inc., one of the largest private investment firms in America. Rainwater, Inc. has primarily engaged in the founding and building of major companies in the health care service, oil service, natural gas, insurance, and real estate industries.

Moore is affiliated with a number of prestigious corporate and not-for-profit Boards of Directors. She is on the boards of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, MPS Group, Inc., and the JP Morgan National Advisory Board. She is Vice Chair of the New York University School of Medicine Foundation Board and a member of the NYU Hospitals Board.

She holds a BA degree in political science from the University of South Carolina and an MBA from George Washington University. The University of South Carolina is the first comprehensive university to name its Business School after a woman, The Moore School of Business. Moore serves on the University of South Carolina Board of Trustees and was appointed to President Bush's education transition team.

Previously, she has served on the boards of the Hospital Corporation of America, George Washington University, and Magellan Health Services.

Prior to joining Rainwater, Inc. in 1994, Moore was a managing Director of Chase Bank (today JP Morgan). Here, she pioneered "debtor in possession" financing to companies filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Widely recognized for her success in finance, she has received numerous awards in banking and finance. In addition, her career has been the subject of many feature articles in business and women's publications including Fortune, Forbes, Working Woman, Worth, Reader's Digest, and The Wall Street Journal, as well as the subject of a CNN profile. Ms. Moore is the first woman to be profiled on the cover of Fortune magazine in its 70-year history and was named to their list of the Top 50 Most Powerful Women in American Business.

She is also Chairwoman and Founder of The Palmetto Institute, a private policy research group in South Carolina.
