Gilbert Lang Mathews

Gilbert Lang Mathews is the CEO and founder of Lucifer Lighting Company, a San Antonio-based manufacturer of high-end architectural lighting fixtures used in luxury residences, museums, hotels, restaurants, and corporate facilities worldwide.

Mr. Mathews serves The University of Texas School of Architecture as a Life Advisory Board Member, as a Trustee for the San Antonio Museum of Art, as an Overseer for the Libraries of the University of Pennsylvania, and as member of the Board of Visitors of the North Carolina School of the Arts.

Prior to founding Lucifer Lighting over 25 years ago, Mr. Mathews practiced law with Vinson Elkins in Houston and founded his own law firm in San Antonio. Mr. Mathews holds degrees from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and from the Colombia University School of Law.

Mr. Mathews collects French and English private press and late nineteenth-century illustrated books, and is a member of the Grolier Club, a private club in New York City for book collectors. Mr. Mathews and his wife, Suzanne, have three children: Alexandra, Benjamin, and Roselyn.
