Scholars from around the world visit the Ransom Center and bring rare materials to life by writing biographies, publishing never-before-seen letters and manuscripts, and sharing new perspectives about the people and events of our world.

The Ransom Center currently awards approximately 50 fellowships annually to scholars for research projects that require substantial on-site use of the Center's collections.

A gift of $100,000 establishes an endowment to permanently fund one fellowship with an annual award that aides in travel and living expenses. Once a fellowship is established, the initial gift remains intact. Only the earned interest is expended. To learn more about endowments at the Ransom Center visit Endowments.

The Ransom Center offers four different types of fellowships:

  • One month fellowships: $3,000 per month award
  • Two to three month fellowships: $3,000 per month award
  • Travel stipends: $1,200-1,700 award
  • Dissertation fellowships: $1,500 award
