The Mexican artist, Miguel Covarrubias, drew the dust jacket art of Mules and Men and its ten textual illustrations. An enthusiastic supporter of the Harlem Renaissance, Covarrubias drew images of the people of Harlem that are as bold and as full of life as they were.
