The Woodward and Bernstein Waterate Papers

The Final Days

Soon after Nixon's resignation in August 1974, Woodward and Bernstein set out to write the story left untold in All the President's Men--what happened inside the White House as the facts surrounding Watergate emerged and brought Nixon's presidency to an end. Based on 394 interviews with Nixon's family, friends, staff, and closest colleagues, The Final Days presented a very personal and sometimes unflattering portrait of Nixon. Released in May 1976, one month after the movie premier of All the President's Men, The Final Days received a great deal of criticism as an unnecessary attack on the former President based on information from unnamed sources.
