We are pleased to announce the sixth annual Pforzheimer Lecture on February 12, 2001, to feature literary scholar Janice Radway. Radway is the author of A Feeling for Books: the Book-of-the-Month Club, Literary Taste, and Middle-class Desire (1997), as well as Reading the Romance: Women, Patriarchy, and Popular Literature (1984). Her innovative scholarship on the impact of the Book-of-the-Month Club and romance novels, as well as her sometimes controversial views on the future of American Studies, are certain to ensure an enlightened and revealing lecture.
