L. Jeffrey Selznick Room to Premiere in Spring 2003

Jeffrey Selznick, Los Angeles, c. 1991.

One of the new rooms created by the reconstruction of the Ransom Center will be the Audio/Visual Room named for Jeffrey Selznick, whose longstanding commitment to the Ransom Center is continued through his wife Barbara Selznick and his brother Daniel Selznick. Daniel remarked, "I know how moved he would be to know that the Ransom Center wishes to remember his commitment to this worthy cause. I am, needless to say, happy that we have been able to make a modest contribution to this room and that other friends of Jeff's will join us."

The room will be used for the study of film and music, and will provide state-of-the-art research facilities and technology, including listening and viewing devices for reel-to-reel tapes, films, cassette tapes, phonograph records, slides, videos, CDs, and DVDs.

Barbara Selznick expressed her thanks to the Center for the honor they are bestowing on the memory of Jeffrey Selznick in recognition of his many years of service on the Advisory Council and for the establishment of the David O. and Myron Selznick archives. "The dedication of this room in Jeffrey's name also will be of help to scholars and film devotees in their quest for knowledge on the film industry during the Selznick years."
