Charles Lindbergh's compass fittingly displayed.

The Harry Ransom Center recently offered travelers an alternative to sitting out flight delays at Austin Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA).

Running from June 15 to August 30, 2004, the exhibition Your Papers, Please: Passports and Other Travel Documents from The Ransom Center provided weary travelers the opportunity to connect with famous personalities through the common experience of travel.

The exhibition featured passports, photos, travel documents, and personal effects of cultural icons, including Charles Lindbergh's compass from the "Spirit of St. Louis," Gloria Swanson's travel cases, and one of Erle Stanley Gardner's travel notebooks. These items are but a small representation of travel materials garnered from the collections at the Ransom Center and exhibited in 10 display cases at ABIA.
