The Ransom Center, the College of Fine Arts, the College of Communication, the Austin Film Society, and the Austin Circle of Theaters collaborated in the spring to present "Stella Adler and the American Theater," a series of public programs celebrating legendary acting teacher Stella Adler.

The programs were part of the Ransom Center's "Signatures Series," a series of events that highlight the Center's recent archival acquisitions. The Ransom Center acquired Adler's archive in 2004.

The programs culminated with a visit by filmmaker and former Adler student Peter Bogdanovich, who spoke about his work and Adler at a screening of his Academy Award-winning film The Last Picture Show (1971).

The Alamo Drafthouse Downtown screened films starring Adler's students in a series titled "Method Acting Masterpieces: The Adler School." Films included On the Waterfront (1954), Bonnie and Clyde (1967), and Taxi Driver (1976).
