What is an RSS feed?

Real Simple Syndication (RSS) is a text-based method of content distribution. A RSS feed is a text file that can be read by software applications called news readers, often known as news aggregators. News readers allow users to receive updated information from websites without opening their web browser.

The Harry Ransom Center is using RSS to distribute the latest information about its collections, acquisitions, exhibitions, programs, and multimedia offerings.

Additional information about RSS and descriptions of various news readers is available in The New York Times article "Fine-Tuning Your Filter for Online Information."
