Ambassador Rosalba Ojeda

Rosalba Ojeda was born and raised in Mexico. She graduated with honors from the University of the Americas, in Puebla, Mexico, in 1972. Her B.A. is in International Relations. She then pursued, from 1972-73 graduate studies at the Institute of Political Studies in Paris, France. She received in 1975 an M.A. from The University of Texas at Austin.

She is fluent in Spanish, Italian, English and French.

Ojeda was appointed Consul General of Mexico in Austin, Texas. Her assignment began in May 2007 and concluded January 2015.

Rosalba Ojeda was a member of the Foreign Service of Mexico for more than 30 years.

During her diplomatic career, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she assumed a multitude of responsibilities, including advisor to three different Secretary's of State.

Abroad she served as a junior diplomat at Mexico's Embassy to the US, in Washington DC. Latter, as Deputy Chief of Mission in Brussels at the Embassy of Mexico to the Kingdom of Belgium, The Gran Ducat of Luxembourg and the European Union.

Immediately before her Austin assignment she was ambassador to the Republic of Guatemala, 2004-07. Previously she was ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, a position that also carried accreditation to all the English Caribbean Islands, in the West Indies 2002-04.

After reaching mandatory retirement, Rosalba Ojeda settled back into her Mexico City home. Now, she is enrolled in art and literature classes, her other lifelong passion.

Serving as a mentor in Citibanamex Bank's area of social responsibility is a continuing engagement she enjoys. She feels great fondness towards the Harry Ransom Center and considers it a privilege to be an Advisory Council Member.
