The Woodward and Bernstein Waterate Papers

The Washington Post

Woodward notebook : 24 Pages

17 June 1972

Woodward attended the preliminary hearing for the five men arrested at the Democratic National Committee headquarters in the Watergate office complex. The Prosecutor argued that no bond be allowed since the men had given false names and were arrested with large amounts of cash during a "professional" and "clandestine" burglary. As the judge questioned them, Woodward recorded that one of the men, Frank McCord, stated he was a security consultant, retired from the CIA.
