Harry Ransom Center

Learn while helping others.

Spend more time at a place you already love. Volunteers are a vital part of the Center's accomplishments and a valued part of the organization. Volunteer duties include giving tours, working at events, and greeting visitors when they arrive. Being a volunteer requires deep curiosity, a friendly demeanor, the desire to share your knowledge with the public, and a flexible time commitment to accommodate your schedule. There are positions that require three hours a month, and others three hours a week – your choice.

Volunteers enjoy unique access to the collections, training, and complimentary membership as part of an ongoing commitment. Become part of a community of like-minded people who share a passion for the arts and humanities. Thank you for considering giving the gift of your time to the Ransom Center.

  • Visitor Services

Visitor Services Volunteers are the first point of contact for visitors to the Ransom Center's galleries. The primary role is two-fold: helping to ensure that visitors have all the information they need, and that they have a positive experience.
