Harry Ransom Center Introduces New Web Site

The Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center at The University of Texas at Austin has introduced a new Web site at www.hrc.utexas.edu.

The Ransom Center's Web site received more than 44 million Web hits in 2007, originating from countries around the world.

"The primary goal behind the new site is to provide visitors easier access to information about our collections, exhibitions, and programs," said Daniel Zmud, the Ransom Center's webmaster. "Additional new features include an online edition of the 'Guide to the Collections' and multimedia content such as slideshows, videos, and audio podcasts."

The design of the site, inspired by the Ransom Center's two 25-foot-tall interior atria wrapped in glass and etched with collection images, more fully reflects the Ransom Center's identity.

"The new Web site reflects the openness of our building that we sought to achieve in our architectural redesign five years ago," said Ransom Center Director Thomas F. Staley.

"Information about our collections is more readily available, there is easier navigation, and visitors will be able to find the information they seek quickly and accurately. The newly designed site will better meet the needs of visitors from all over the world who enter the Ransom Center virtually."
