Acclaimed Writer Ian McEwan to Read from New Novel "The Children Act"
EVENT: The Harry Ransom Center and the Michener Center for Writers present novelist Ian McEwan to mark the Ransom Center's acquisition of McEwan's archive. McEwan's first American reading from his new novel "The Children Act" will be followed by a reception and book signing.
WHEN: Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m.
WHERE: Jessen Auditorium in Homer Rainey Hall at The University of Texas at Austin, 21st and Whitis streets.
BACKGROUND: McEwan is the Booker Prize-winning author of "Amsterdam," "Atonement," "On Chesil Beach," and other critically acclaimed works. The Harry Ransom Center acquired McEwan's archive in spring 2014, and it will be available for research and teaching use once it is processed and cataloged.
The event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited, and line forms upon arrival of the first patron.
Priority entry is available to members of the Ransom Center (one seat per membership card) and Michener Center fellows who arrive by 6:20 p.m. Members and fellows arriving after 6:20 p.m. will join the general queue.
Two cases of materials from the McEwan archive will be on view in the Ransom Center's lobby from Sept. 9 to Sept. 25.
